Hello There!

Welcome to Dog Friendly Sheffield, a new website for dog owners (and dog lovers) in and around Sheffield where we plan to list and show love to all the brilliant dog friendly businesses in the area.

Sheffield is known as the steel city, the outdoor city and it’s even staking it’s claim as a real hub for beer lovers with our breweries, micro-breweries and pubs, bars and shops to enjoy great craft beer. With the Peak District on our doorstep and one of the greenest cities in the UK, Sheffield is also a real haven for dog owners.

My name is Brandon and as somebody with a young Labrador (Eddie) that doesn’t like to be left on his own (who does?), I found that the places I go to on a weekend had to change to allow Eddie to come along with me.

I was frustrated that there didn’t seem to be anywhere that had a list of exactly where was dog friendly, some businesses label it on their doors, but not all, some mention it on their Facebook, but not all. There are even national dog friendly websites – but the information is often out of date, or doesn’t cover new businesses in the area. So I decided to create the website I wanted for myself, and hopefully you’ll find it useful as well.

We will be creating lists of dog friendly pubs, cafes, restaurants and more by area, working our way out from the city centre. We’ve been in touch with lots of helpful businesses who have let us know whether they accept dogs or not, but we know that it’s impossible to catch everywhere straight away. So if you’re a business or a dog owner that knows of somewhere that we’ve missed, please do drop us a message on the contact form in the top right-hand corner of the website, alternatively, you can find us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We’ll aim to get the site updated as soon as we can.

As well as our basic lists, myself and Eddie will also be hitting the streets of Sheffield to pay a visit to as many dog friendly locations as we can and write up a more in-depth review (purely in the name of research, obviously). I want to build on what we have to include new areas, to include the best places to go for breakfast with your dog, a list of Sunday roast locations that allow your dog to come in after a brisk Sunday walk. You get the idea.

We want to get all of you involved as well, so if you’re out and about visiting a dog friendly location, then be sure to get a photo and share it using #DogFriendlySheffield on Instagram or Twitter, and we’ll be sure to share it.
