Sheffield Christmas Market

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Sheffield’s Christmas market is in full swing with shoppers, drinkers and revellers.

In Sheffield, we’re often a little guilty of being both simultaneously down on our city, while also being infatuated with our city and there’s no greater barometer of that than with the Christmas market. You’ll often see in the Facebook comments that our market isn’t as good as Manchester, or Nottingham, or somewhere else. They might have a bigger market, their bar might be bigger, they might have more stalls, but you know what they don’t have? Sheffield, and that trumps all.

Personally, I love the Christmas market, the city centre really comes to life for it. 2021 sees the usual array of gift stalls, alongside various food vendors offering up sweet treats, Christmas dinner/Yorkshire wraps and of course the ever popular German sausage.

Is Sheffield Christmas Market dog friendly

The Christmas market is dog friendly due to all the stalls being outdoors. Dogs are also allowed in the outdoor areas of the Christmas bars.

Food is great, but for many people, a Christmas market rises and falls on its pop-up bar and this year you’ve got two to choose from. Alpine Bar and Alpine Lodge

Alpine Bar replaced the long-standing Sleight Bar at the top of fargate a couple of years ago now. A bar in the middle and a bar outside means that there’s plenty of space to get served a variety of beers, ciders, hot chocolates, mulled wines and more.

Dogs are welcome in the outside area only.

Sadly Thor’s Tipi won’t be returning to Sheffield in 2021, but has been replaced by a two-floorr Alpine Lodge on the peace gardens.

Unfortunately, dogs are only allowed in the outside area.

Check out our list of dog friendly Sheffield city centre locations who will welcome you and your four-legged friend inside for a mulled wine, hot chocolatre or any other Christmas favourite.

Warning: As with any city centre locations, these bars will be busy on a weekend and you should bear that in mind before bringing your dog along. You certainly wouldn’t want them to get stood on, or for the atmosphere to be too loud for them.
