Millowners Arms sits away from the road, so it’s not something you’d walk past on a bimble around Kelham Island. From the Fat Cat head straight on and over the little bridge toward Kelham Island museum. Follow the cobbled road around as if you’re heading to the museum itself. When you get there, you should see the pub at the end of the museum car park.
Stepping inside is like stepping back in time, and by no means do I mean that in a bad way. The Millowners harks back to the pubs of old with beer branded glass and proper bar stools and will no doubt spark nostalgia (depending on your age). The bar itself is adorned with a whole host of ever changing keg and cask beers making it an ideal choice for beer lovers. There’s plenty of beery nostalgia around the walls and shelves too to spark an interest. It’s comfortable, laidback and always has some pretty decent tunes on.
If you’re looking for food, the menu is limited but will satisfy hunger on a day of drinking. We had their bhaji fries (fries topped with bhaji bits, yogurt, and mango chutney) and I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that they were SO moreish. There’s also bacon fries, arancini, halloumi fritters etc available. Food to pick at with a pint.
